Vendastians in Saskatoon were proud to participate in the United Way of Saskatoon and Area’s 2022 Day of Caring® on Wednesday, June 8.
Day of Caring is an opportunity for organizations to participate in meaningful, hands-on projects that wouldn’t otherwise take place. Every organization that pitches in is paired with a social agency for the day-long event.
Vendasta was matched with OUTSaskatoon, which provides programming and support to 2SLGBTQ people in Saskatoon. This also doubled as a great opportunity to celebrate Pride Month in a meaningful way!
Thanks to your generous contributions we bought and filled 50 backpacks with hygiene products (about $1,750 in goods!)—supplying youth in need with bare necessities. We completely packed an SUV! Eleven Vendastians hauled all of the donated goods to OUTSaskatoon and spend Wednesday morning filling backpacks. On top of that, each kit contained a colourful, creative, and inspirational card made with love by our teams.
Special thanks to Erin Remai, Kathy Gallant, Claire Wilkinson, Julie Wilkinson, Amel Cheema, Haley Babich, Lauretta Peters, Hillarie Wilson, Catriona Barcoe, and Tyler Dewald for volunteering for this project!
Remember: Anyone who donated money or products can score points by posting their haul in their respective house channels!
