#Race-to-Zero
In early 2021, a small group of employees at Vendasta noticed a concerning trend: Despite their best efforts to reduce waste and promote sustainability in the workplace, they were still producing an alarming amount of carbon emissions. They knew they had to take action, but they also knew they couldn't do it alone.
So, they formed the #Race-to-Zero Committee, a group of passionate employees who were dedicated to making Vendasta a more environmentally-friendly workplace. Their mission was simple: Reduce the company's carbon footprint to zero by 2030, and educate their colleagues and customers about the importance of sustainability.
The committee got to work right away, researching ways to reduce waste, conserve energy, and promote sustainability. They organized events and workshops to teach their colleagues about composting, recycling, and energy-efficient practices. They also started a Green Team, a group of volunteers who were committed to helping Vendasta achieve its sustainability goals. One of the big moves they made was switching from paper and plastic to steel cutlery and washable plates.
Earth Day
April 22, 2023
As Earth Day 2023 approaches, the Race to Zero Committee is gearing up for a week-long celebration of the planet and all its wonders. They've organized a series of events and activities to promote environmental awareness and action. The committee has been working hard to educate their colleagues about the importance of Earth Day and the impact that humans have on the planet. They've even created a slide deck to help with the education.
Earth Day was first celebrated in 1970, and since then it has grown into a global movement that celebrates the planet and advocates for environmental protection. It's a day to reflect on the beauty of our planet and the importance of preserving it for future generations.
The Race to Zero Committee is encouraging employees to take action in their personal lives too. They've provided resources and tips for reducing waste and conserving energy at home, and they're challenging their colleagues to make one sustainable change in their daily routines.
As we approach Earth Day 2023, it's important to remember the impact that we all have on the planet, and the responsibility we have to take action to protect it. Let's work together to create a more sustainable future for ourselves and the planet we call home.
For Earth Week 2023, you are encouraged to educate yourself on ways that you can contribute to a healthier planet! Check out the advice below from our Race-to-Zero Committee!
