We are in the heart of the season of giving, and over 40 Vendastians volunteers helped spread the joy in Saskatoon last week!
In mid-November, the Community Support team put out a call for volunteers, and you did not disappoint. Over 40 amazing Vendastians signed up to help with two amazing initiatives in one busy, feel-good week!
Vendasta Charitable Focus: Children & Families in Need
Vendasta supports Care & Share Saskatoon, which aims to make life better for children in the city. Every year, the Care & Share program hosts a 100% donated Christmas dinner for the staff and students at St. Mark School. The dinner is served by volunteers -- AKA - us! Vendasta has taken part in this tradition for about eight years running!
It was a frigid cold day on Wednesday, but these brave souls persevered. From hauling in the supplies, to prepping some dinner items, to serving the actual dinner and clean up, in true Vendasta fashion, we got it done! After the work was done, all the volunteers were fed the amazing meal we had served to the kids. If the actual volunteering wasn't fulfilling enough, this delicious meal sure was!
Vendasta Charitable Focus: Children & Families in Need
On Thursday, a few teams volunteered to shop for our adopted families in the The Salvation Army's #adoptafamily program! Together, we drove out to Walmart in Stonebridge, where we separated into our teams and strategized on how we could best support our families. We picked out various grocery items and toys for the kids to make their Christmas a special one!
After the shopping trip, we packed everything up into boxes for our families. It was such a feel good day to be able to spread the joy to those in need! A special shout out goes out to Bill Johnson, who donated his time on Saturday to load up the boxes and haul them to our scheduled drop off!
Thank you to all who volunteered this week! Not only did we do so much good in our local community, but it was a great team-building experience and an opportunity to meet and chat with people I have never worked closely with at our organization!
I'm so proud of the generous spirit our team has. There are so many people who are eager to help and share their time. Thank you, Vendasta!
Feeling left out of this feel-good action?
It's not too late! 2022 volunteer hours are still available to you! If you have not yet used your four hours, consider finding a local volunteer opportunity of your own!
